BUDECA – SOWA: Kids & Youth Summer Program
The Buganda Development Cultural Association of Washington’s (BUDECA) Summer Program (2022), in partnership with School’s Out Washington (SOWA), seeks to expand opportunities for children and youth within the Buganda and wider Ugandan community in Washington State – to create, develop and advance community and social connections through various educational, physical and outdoor activities targeted and children and youth within the community.
This inaugural Summer Program will include among others; cultural and sporting activities, educational & learning tours and career guidance as well as arts & crafts sessions. Programs will be mostly in-person and outdoors, with a few hybrid or virtual sessions; and will take place between July and September 2022.
For 2022, BUDECA, together with SOWA, is excited to partner with Solomon W. Jagwe (Creator & Director of the Adventures of Nkoza & Nankya) and Sowl Studios to share an interactive Art and Craft/Cultural Interactive Session, for our Youth Summer Program. The STEM session will include Career advice on how to break into the Art and Animation Industry, Plus Film Making.

SOWA:
School’s Out Washington (SOWA) works to ensure equitable access to high-quality, expanded learning programs in all Washington communities – especially for low-income youth and youth of color. Through advocacy, professional learning, and community support grants SOWA has established a foundation of support and expertise that enables and enriches the critical work of youth-serving organizations.
